Since our foundation, one word has been at the heart of Rotary Oostende ter Streep: service. We believe in the power of commitment, weekly gatherings, and strong bonds of friendship. This dedication translates into sustainable projects and a positive impact on our community.
Our club brings together over 50 active members – a diverse mix of ages and backgrounds. We regularly welcome guest speakers from the political, academic, and business world to inspire and enrich our meetings. The proceeds from our initiatives are fully dedicated to charitable causes, with a strong focus on youth, healthcare, and social support.
One of our best-known initiatives is the annual MetaRelax® Ostend Night Run, a vibrant sports event that attracts around 3,000 participants each year.
We are ready to act when help is needed. In 2020, together with over 200 volunteer seamstresses from Ostend and the surrounding region, we coordinated the production of thousands of face masks for hospitals, care homes, and emergency services. In 2022, we offered emergency support to Ukrainian refugees through projects in Poland. In 2023 and 2024, our focus shifted to providing structural support to local organisations such as Ithaka (for people with disabilities) and youth centre De Takel.
Our vision goes beyond the coastline. In 2025, we are supporting international projects like Education for All in Sierra Leone, which works to improve access to education for underprivileged children.
